Ode to a Soccer Coach - poem written by the Mighty Bluebird players.

Greg Hatcher - Greg has been the coach of the Bluebirds since he started the program in 1995. Since the initial Bluebird team was started in 1995 they have won conference championships with the Y.M.C.A. and C.A.S.A., Central Arkansas Soccer Association, each and every year. His teams have won over 94 percent of all games played and have won twelve state championships. Hatcher was a three-sport athlete in high school and college, lettering in soccer, wrestling, and baseball. He was a three-year starter at right halfback for Alma College's soccer teams between 1979 and 1983. Following college he coached a year of baseball at Notre Dame University and has been coaching kids youth soccer, basketball, and football teams since 1984. Every sports team he has ever coached since 1984 has won the championship for their season with the exception of his 1993 football team, which finished second.

Hatcher believes the kids enjoy working hard and enjoys teaching his kids self-confidence and most importantly to earn that self-confidence through hard work and discipline. He also teaches kids a lot more than the physical aspects of the game. He teaches the mental parts of the game that will not only help them in sports but later in their business careers, parenting , and in life.

Chris Owen - Chris joined the Bluebirds in the Fall of 2002 and has helped coach the Bluebirds to six state championships in 2003, 2004, and 2005 with the White and Black teams. Chris is a former collegiate player at the University of Wales, as well as a professional soccer player in England and Wales. As center midfielder his skills are among the elite in the game. He has been running soccer camps and has been a paid coach for several Classic soccer teams over the past six years. He recently led is Little Rock Futbol Club 88 to the 2002 State Championship.

Mark Burr - Mark has been a coach for the Mighty Bluebirds for several seasons. His claim to fame is he is the only coach ever to beat a Mighty Bluebirds team when he was the coach of Christ the King. Although the Bluebirds did get a few wins against him as well Coach Burr and Coach Hatcher had such respect for each other that they decided to merge their teams and make two very good teams even better. He is one of the best motivators of any coach around. Mark spends most of his time coaching the Blue Team.

Scott Loucks - Scott brings a winning tradition to the Mighty Bluebirds program. He's won 14 State Titles in basketball, golf, tennis, and soccer. He's coached over 80 players who have won Division I scholarships, and has now been a part of 2 Bluebird State Championships.

Christy Smiley - Christy Smiley joined the Mighty Bluebird staff in the fall of 2002. Christy played for the Arkansas A's, which turned into Little Rock Futbol Club; three year state champions, J.A. Fair High School boys team, and spent the last semester of her Senior year playing with the girls at Central High School as their starting striker. Christy is a former collegiate player at the University of Central Arkansas where she played striker and currently is a Senior at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and works full time for The Hatcher Agency since September 2006. She has helped the Bluebirds win their last 6 state titles.

~ Ode to a Soccer Coach ~
The Mighty Bluebirds are so great, Because he is the best soccer coach in the state. Tracy Powell Coach Hatcher is very fine, And he is finer than divine. Catherine Sell Coach Hatcher taught us about the Miracle Man & SNIOP, Great champions he wants us all to be. Coach Hatcher says that a Champion always runs one more, So I try to get prepared for what's in store. Bethany Morrison Coach likes to yell, A win will ring his bell! Mary Mulford Coach is such a busy man . . . I've seen him talk on the phone, change his shirt, and DRIVE with no hands! It's cool how he takes his time for the team, We appreciate him even when he blows that whistle and screams! Holly Hilburn Coach Hatcher's Bluebirds are number one, He makes soccer lots of fun! Amanda Janton When he screams at us to get the ball, He can hardly talk at all. Kelsey Hatcher He really teaches us how to play, And we're all champions by the month of May. Amanda Johnson He's the best coach I've ever had! Coaching girls even when he's mad! We appreciate a lot more than a tad! Courtney Sykes When we've played real hard and won the game and we're feeling like that's plenty, Coach Hatcher says, "Run laps! You only won by twenty." Caroline Benton When Coach Hatcher makes me take a lap, It makes me want to take a nap. Jessica Monarch The Mighty Bluebirds love to boast, We have the Coach who teaches the most. Elizabeth Hackett A loud voice, coaching skills and care for the girls, you got'em, But please call my "B" a "bottom". Haley Whisenhunt Every game, our skills we test, Our coach, our team, we're the best. Erin Howland Coach has taught us how to really hustle, And he really has big muscles. Having him for a coach is a blast, This team will be great memories to all of our past.
