Mighty Bluebirds Win SuperClubs Tournament Again
The Mighty Bluebirds won
the Memphis SuperClubs tournament again. (I think that makes four times
in a row). The Bluebirds started off a little rough tying Conway 1-1,
but they came back the next day and beat the Lobos from Memphis by a score
of 6-0. In the third game they beat the Memphis Futbol Club 7-0 and in
the finals they beat Little Rock Futbol Club 5-1. The Bluebirds outscored
their opponents 20-2 as they dominated play throughout the tournament.
Outstanding defensive performances were turned in by Megan Batek at sweeper,
outside defenders Kelsey Smith, Haley Filat, Samantha Mack all played
superbly while goalies Annie Stafford and Madison Lee held down the fort
at goalkeeper. A top the diamond Olivia Caillouet and Megan Batek and
Leah Riner all played the position well feeding the ball to forwards to
set up goals. At forward Larkin Hatcher, Kelsey Smith, and Olivia Caillouet
did a good job of getting the ball to Haley Hatcher who scored all 16
goals in the tournament. Megan Batek also scored goals for the Bluebirds.
She couldn't have done it without the passing of the great play of her
teammates. The SuperClubs tournament marked the fourth consecutive tournament
this year that the Mighty Bluebirds have won.
