The Mighty Bluebird Black and Mighty Bluebird Green teams both advanced
to the finals of the 2003 CASA Classic to make an all Bluebird final for
the 4th time this year. The Bluebirds didn't play the game and declared
both teams Co-Champions. The Mighty Bluebird Green team won their games
in the tournament by the following scores. They beat FC United Freedom 10-0,
then they beat Arkansas Comets Power 7-0, then they beat FC United Beat
10-0, and then they beat the Conway Wildcats 3-2 in the semifinals to advance.
The Mighty Bluebird Black team beat Fort Smith 15-0, FC United 10-1, Harrison
Angels 10-0, and the LRFC 2-0.
This ended a dominating season for the Mighty Bluebirds at U-11 for the Green team as they finished with a 32-4-1 record. The Mighty Bluebird Black team, a true U10 team playing up all season, ended their season with a 30-2-3 record.
Leading the way for the Green team in goals scored were Sarah
Johnson, Anne Elizabeth Fitzgerald, Mary Elizabeth Sixbey, and McKenzie
Clark. The Green team's defense, which includes Olivia Gregory, Haley Parker,
Kallie Francis, and the goalkeepers, Ashley Hartnedy and Avery Zorn allowed
only two goals the entire tournament. Amy Moorehead, Becky Scott, and Shannon
Donahue also scored for the Green team. For the Black team Haley Hatcher
led the tournament with 18 goals including the final 2 goals in the semi
final. Brooke Wendl, Leah Riner, Larkin Hatcher, Annie Sixbey, Annie Stafford,
Olivia Caillouet, also added several goals for the Bluebirds.
