- The Mighty Bluebird soccer team started off
the season with a bang by winning the Texarkana "Battle on the Border" Tournament.
The Bluebirds entered two teams and both teams made the final.
Once the teams reached the final they simply decided not to play,
but simply to take their trophies and go home. The Bluebird team
had an unblemished 7 - 0 record against opponents scoring 28
goals while only giving up 1 goal to an opponent during the tournament.

- Needless to say, the defense of the Mighty
Bluebirds was extremely tough. Leading the way on defensive clears
for the Blue team in the tournament were Amanda Janton, Courtney
Sykes and Caty McMains. On offense Courtney Sykes had a game-winning
goal against Cabot, Erin Howland had a game-winning goal against
Hot Springs. Jamie and Stacy Coonce each scored two goals against
Texarkana while Theresa Schieber, Lauren Willems and Erin Howland
also added a goal.

- For the Bluebird White team the defense again
played fantastic games with Annie DeCoursey having seven headers
in one game against Hot Springs and Kaylee Flowers, Holly Hilburn,
and Abby Bloom played a great defensive tournament. In the mid-field, Caroline Benton played her normal
spectacular game having three assists in one game against Texarkana
while LeeAnna Magrath also contributed two goals in the tournament.
Leading the way in scoring were Tracy Powell with 7 goals and
3 assists, Kelsey Hatcher with 5 goals and 4 assists, and Haley
Whisenhunt with 4 goals and 2 assists. The goalies for both Bluebird
teams were spectacular with Bethany Morrison and Katie Udron
combining to give up only 1 goal in 7 games.

- The Bluebirds will continue to be working
hard as they prepare for future tournaments and games against
much older opponents this coming season.
